Itinerary

Day 1 – 3, Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef
Arrive Learmonth/Exmouth airport (flight not included) and meet your road transfer to Sal Salis for a 3 night stay .

Accommodation is in eco-luxury wilderness tents designed to blend with the dunes and low lying coastal scrub, offering comfortable beds, eco-ensuite bathroom, drinking water and a daily cleaning service. The Lodge is the social heart of the camp raised above the dunes offering a stunning view of the Ningaloo Reef and Indian Ocean. Here you’ll enjoy the all-inclusive meals, open bar with a selection of alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages.

Enjoy a range of daily guided activities provided in-house by Sal Salis guides including gorge walking, kayaking and snorkelling trips, or simply just relax and unwind. Self-guide kayak, paddle board and snorkel just off your camp, with more than 500 species of colourful fish and 250 coral types. Above ground there is plenty of unique Australian fauna that live in the Cape Range, such as rock wallabies, red kangaroos, euros, eighty species of reptiles, and over one hundred species of birds.

Day 4 – Mega Fauna day tour to Exmouth
(Whale Shark tours available March-August) Join your transfer to board your day-tour vessel to go in search of the largest fish in the ocean …. the graceful Ningaloo Whale Sharks. Swimming alongside these gentle giants is simply an incredible encounter you will always remember, both exhilarating and serene, simultaneously awe-inspiring and humbling. You’ll feel dwarfed by a whale shark’s massive size, but they are harmless filter feeders, their diets typically consist of plankton, copepods, krill and fish eggs.

(Humpback Whale swim tours available July-October) Join your transfer to board your day-tour vessel to go in search for some of Ningaloo Reef’s largest marine mammals …. the majestic Humpback Whales. Swimming alongside these awe-inspiring giants is simply an incredible encounter you will never forget and Ningaloo Reef is the only place in Western Australia you can do so. Humpback whales are renowned for their playful behaviour, such as tail-slapping and breaching.

A spotter plane is used to guide the vessels, therefore maximizing the success rate for an in-water interaction. Mega-fauna tours are day snorkelling tours only (scuba diving interactions not permitted under local licenses).

After your exhilarating day swimming with Ningaloo’s famous mega-fauna, you will be transported to your accommodation for the evening at the luxurious Mantarays Ningaloo Beach Resort overlooking the magnificent Exmouth Gulf. Meals at own expense whilst staying in Exmouth.

Day 5 – Scenic Flight to Coral Bay
Spend the morning relaxing on the beach or by the pool, or exploring the Ningaloo Discovery Centre & Aquarium and Exmouth township. Depart from the Exmouth airstrip for a breathtaking scenic flight transfer over Cape Range and along the Ningaloo Reef coastline. You might spot turtles, reef sharks, dugongs, whales sharks, manta rays and humpback whales from a birds eye view. Once you touch down at the Coral Bay airstrip, take the short transfer to board Shore Thing for a 4pm departure. Enjoy a late afternoon snorkel or scuba dive near Five Fingers reef before enjoying a magical sunset over the Indian Ocean as the vessel sails to its overnight anchorage.

Day 6
Following breakfast, enjoy a morning snorkel at a site such as The Stag Forest, a beautiful coral garden exhibiting stunning branching coral formations and home to numerous marine turtles. After morning tea set sail for another exhilarating snorkel or scuba dive location, where you will have the chance to see reef sharks and turtles cruising by or large rays resting as we explore sandy underwater pathways fringed by hard coral outcrops rising to the waters surface. Enjoy a freshly prepared buffet lunch and relax on the deck, whilst keeping a look out for playful dolphins or shy dugong. The day isn’t over yet, enjoy a late afternoon snorkel or dive when the reef’s inhabitants are winding down. As the sun sets, indulge in a sumptuous dinner and share memories of the day’s underwater adventures.

Day 7
Your crew and guides will select the best snorkel and dive sites based on the conditions. Ningaloo Reef boasts a mind-boggling variety of fish, turtles, and colourful coral formations, making every dive or snorkel an unforgettable adventure. You may like to enjoy a leisurely kayak or SUP, keeping an eye out for large rays resting and turtles feeding in the shallow waters. Between June and October there is a fantastic opportunity to observe Humpback Whales as they migrate along the Ningaloo coast.

Day 8
Ningaloo Reef and Coral Bay is home to a resident population of coastal Manta Rays that frequent the inner reef to mate, give birth and feed. Enjoy a discussion on Manta Ray biology and behaviour along the Ningaloo Reef with your guide, whilst we search for these graceful rays to snorkel with. Before a sumptuous buffet lunch, enjoy one last snorkel or scuba dive at the fascinating Asho’s Gap, a cleaning station for grey reef sharks. Watch as the sharks swim in to a large cabbage coral and hold themselves in the currents with their mouths open, whilst small cleaner fish dart in and out of their mouths and gills.

Return to Coral Bay approximately 12:30pm  You have the option to catch an afternoon flight departing Learmonth airport or you may choose to relax in Coral Bay or Exmouth for extra nights, so you can experience more of what this truly magical destination offers.
